Your thoughts can make you wealthy

From the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill we discover that “Thoughts are Things”. Everything that man has ever invented or created was first started with a thought. To attain anything in our lives that we desire, we first have to be able to manage and direct our thoughts.

Thoughts are very powerful things, especially when combined with Definiteness of Purpose, Persistence, and a Burning Desire. We have to know what we want, daily continue after the pursuit of what it is we want, and we have to want that which we desire as much as we want air to breath. Only then will we have no difficulty in convincing ourselves that we’ll acquire it. I love that. When we have a burning desire and are so determined to have it that we’re willing to stake our entire future on our ability to get it, we will have no difficulty convincing ourselves.

William Ernest Henley, an English Poet, wrote the prophetic lines, “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul”. He didn’t tell us this but he should have also said that the reason we are the masters of our fate and the captain of our souls is because we have the power to control our thoughts.

Every person who wins in any undertaking has to be willing to cut off all sources of retreat. Only then can we be sure to maintain the state of mind that is essential to success. A Burning Desire. That may seem extreme, and I would agree. But that’s the whole point. “Weak desire will get weak results. Intense desire will get intense results.
